History
After two generations of furniture manufacturing, Bob and Belle Cooper founded The Uttermost Company in 1975, and it is still 100% owned by the Cooper family. Bob and Belle continue to be involved in the business, but are not active in day-to-day activities. Mac Cooper, President/CEO, Taz Cooper, Exec VP/Sales Manager, and a strong management team operate the business today.
Uttermost has enjoyed steady growth for the past 32 years, and now has approximately 290 employees working in its Rocky Mount, Virginia factories totaling 600,000 square feet. Uttermost also has a factory in China which covers an entire city block, and a sales force of 120 representatives throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, etc. In May ’06, Uttermost will be fully operational out of its state-of-the-art West Coast distribution center. This West Coast facility has been added to increase distribution capacity, provide faster shipping to West Coast Retailers, and reduce freight costs to these Retailers.
Uttermost is proud to support many of the most prestigious home-furnishing Retailers in the world with our products and service. The growth of Uttermost is primarily due to our commitment to three things: superior service to Retailers, maximizing the value of the products we make through better design and sharp pricing, and treating our employees, sales representatives, and designers as partners in business. This commitment stems from our stated mission and culture.
Uttermost manufactures mirrors, art, metal wall art, lamps, accessories, clocks and lighting fixtures.
Mission
Our mission is simple: to make great home accessories at a reasonable price. This has been our objective from the day we started 32 years ago.
At Quoizel, we create more than lighting and home accessories. We create timeless pieces designed with you in mind.
We do this by avoiding trends and fads, by balancing form and function and by making our choices thoughtfully.
This kind of dedication, integrity and quality not only goes into the design of our products, but it’s in the way we do business as well. It’s why we’ve grown from a small company to become one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of fine decorative lighting and home accessories.
Founded in 1930 in New York, we’ve recently relocated to Charleston, SC to a state-of-the-art 500,000 square-foot facility. And though we’ve grown in size, we’ve never lost sight of our small business heritage. In fact, we remain privately held, family-owned and operated.
We are Quoizel, and it is our promise to help bring timeless design into your home, while building lasting relationships along the way.
In our 2008 Collection, you will see the changes that are brewing at NOVA. We recently joined forces with Jon Gilmore Designs to expand our lifestyle assortment of home décor products to include mirrors, clocks, wall graphics, accent furniture and infinity products. This year we will offer an expanded range of products created by Jon Gilmore as we rev up our creative design laboratory in Laguna Hills, California.
In addition, we recently launched our Art Studio by NOVA line of three-dimensional wall décor, table top and free-standing floor sculptures. Created by a team of artists led by head designer Kelly Johnston, these hand-crafted works of art are made out of steel, brass, copper, wood, ceramic and glass and feature a range of hand wrought textures, flame treatments and rich patinas.
Since its early beginnings in 1923, NOVA has committed to offering original design. In the current market environment, there are few risk takers willing to invest in unique design. Our mission is to be the leading resource for casual contemporary home décor to the retail furniture market based on providing innovative design at affordable prices.
We are passionate about innovation and have built a loyal customer base which values original design. We thank you for your interest in our work and your support.
